Second suspect in car mart murder held in Canada

The police say the second man apprehended in connection with the murder of Payless Car Mart Manager, Robert Mendez, is to be returned to Jamaica following legal proceedings in Canada.
The Jamaican Police announced today that they have arrested the first suspect, 42 year-old John Jarrett, otherwise known as 'Tucker' of Balcombe Drive, Kingston 11.
He has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of a firearm.

Head of the Major Investigation Task Force (MIT), Superintendent Michael Phipps says the second man in the murder which was caught on tape, has been held in Canada.
He says the accused was held following collaboration with police personnel overseas and is to face the Canadian courts in relation to immigration breaches.
Phipps says he is awaiting the outcome of the hearing overseas and steps will be taken to have the man brought back to the Jamaica afterwards.
Forty-one-year-old Robert Mendez was shot dead by two men who posed as customers at his car mart on Maxfield Avenue on April 1.
The attack was captured on closed-circuit television and was shared on Facebook, YouTube and other social media sites.
Phipps has thanked the public for coming forward with information.
