FOOTBALL: Young Reggae Boyz tried their best, says coach
Jamaica’s Under-20 assistant coach Lenworth Hyde, says the young Reggae Boyz should not be blamed for their poor performance in the CONCACAF FIFA Under-20 championships.
The junior Reggae Boyz crashed out of this year’s tournament, after going down 2-0 to the United States last night at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay.
The defeat has left the Jamaicans, second from bottom in the table, with one point from four matches.
The junior Reggae Boyz also suffered defeats to Guatemala and Panama in the tournament.
Hyde says the players did not get the preparation the other teams had going into the tournament.
He also argued that it was difficult for them going up against professional players from the CONCACAF region.
According to Hyde, the players did everything they could do to make the dream possible but it wasn't to be.
The Reggae Boyz will oppose bottom-placed Aruba in their final match on Wednesday at the same venue.
