FOOTBALL: U-20 Boyz head coach not surprised by poor tournament performance

Jamaica’s Under-20 head coach Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore says a comedy of errors and poor planning resulted in the failure of the junior Reggae Boyz to qualify for this year’s CONCACAF FIFA Under-20 World Cup.



Whitmore says the junior Reggae Boyz tried their best during the tournament, but this was not good enough to qualify for this year’s World Cup tournament.



He says they have nothing to be ashamed of because the boys did everything they could do to make the dream possible, but it wasn't to be.



The junior Reggae Boyz crashed out of this year’s tournament, after going down 2-0 to the United States on Sunday.



The defeat has left the Jamaicans, second from bottom in the table, with one point from four matches.



The young Reggae Boyz also suffered defeats to Guatemala and Panama in the tournament.



The Jamaicans will oppose bottom place Aruba in their final match tomorrow at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay.
