Chronology of earthquakes in the Caribbean

There have been been a number of major earthquakes in the Caribbean since 1692 which have caused more than 5,000 fatalities over the years. See the chronology of the earthquakes in the region since that time to now.



· June 7, 1692 - Jamaica (Fatalities 2,000)



· May 2, 1787 - Puerto Rico - Magnitude 8.0



· February 8, 1843 - Leeward Islands - Magnitude 8.3 (Fatalities 5,000)



· November 18, 1867 - Puerto Rico Region



· January 14, 1907 - Kingston, Jamaica - Magnitude 6.5 (Fatalities 1,000)



· October 11, 1918 - Mona Passage - Magnitude 7.5 (Fatalities 116)



· August 4, 1946 - Samana, Dominican Republic - Magnitude 8.0 (Fatalities 100)



· December 12, 1969 - Guadeloupe, Leeward Islands - Magnitude 7.2



· October 8, 1974 - Leeward Islands - Magnitude 7.5



· November 21, 2004 - Leeward Islands - Magnitude 6.3 (Fatalities 1)



· December 14, 2004 - Cayman Islands Region - Magnitude 6.8



· September 9, 2006 - Gulf of Mexico - Magnitude 5.8



· November 29, 2007 - Martinique Region, Windward Islands - Magnitude 7.4, (fatalities 1)



· January 12, 2010 - Haiti - Magnitude 7.0
