Jamaica secure nine medals on CAC opening day

Jamaica secured 10 medals on yesterday’s opening day of the 2011 Central American and Caribbean Senior Championships in Puerto Rico.



The medal-haul comprises three gold, three silver and four bronze.



The gold medals were won by Jason Morgan in the men’s discus, Shereefa Lloyd in the women’s 400 metres and O’Dayne Richards in the men’s shot put.



Shereefa Lloyd clocked 51.69 seconds win the women’s 400 metres, ahead of her teammate Patricia Hall, who took the silver in 51.85 metres.



Other silver medals were won by Korene Hinds in the women’s 1500-metre finals and Jura Levy in the women’s 100 metres.



The bronze medals were won by Natalie Grant in the women’s hammer throw, Allison Randall in the women’s discus, Simone Facey in the women’s 100 metres and Dexter Lee in the men’s 100 metres.
