Digicel completes acquisition of Telstar Cable Ltd

Digicel today completed its purchase of Telstar Cable Limited.

The telecommunications company says the acquisition was finalised after receiving the approval from the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica.

Telstar Cable Limited is a provider of cable TV, broadband and fixed telephone services in Jamaica.

Digicel says it will now move ahead with plans to invest significantly in the company to increase coverage and further expand the products, services and content available to cable customers.

Digicel Jamaica chief executive officer Barry O’Brien, says the company is thrilled with the acquisition, cementing Digicel's ongoing commitment to investing in Jamaica.

Meanwhile, Telstar’s managing director, Flo Darby, noted that he is proud to be handing over the cable company on a platform that will provide bigger and better TV and broadband services in Jamaica.

The acquisition is Digicel's fourth Caribbean cable acquisition in recent months and forms part of Digicel’s diversification strategy.
