The National Water Commission (NWC) says sections of Munroe Road in St Andrew will be temporarily closed from Monday, May 18, to Friday, May 22, to facilitate road reinstatement works linked to a pipeline project.

The works are being carried out to restore sections of roadway affected by the installation of potable and wastewater pipelines under the Wellington Drive/Munroe Road to Seymour Avenue Pipeline Project.

According to the NWC, the roadwork will require temporary closures along two sections of Munroe Road during the five-day period.

Section One will cover approximately 300 metres of roadway from the intersection of Old Hope Road to the intersection of Munroe Road and Beverly Drive.

Section Two will cover the roadway between the Munroe Road/Wellington Drive stoplight and the gas station located near the intersection of Munroe Road and Old Hope Road, close to the United States Embassy.

To facilitate the closures, traffic to and from Wellington Drive will be diverted along Beverly Drive.

The NWC said single-lane traffic will be maintained between Beverly Drive and the Wellington Drive/Munroe Road stoplight to allow continued access through the area.

The commission also advised that pipeline installation works will continue near the Munroe Road stoplight during the period.

Motorists are being urged to obey posted signs, proceed with caution, and use alternate routes where possible.
