Morning of June

Blessing morning of June,

I thank you coming alight wishing for songs

as flowering birds tune their graces to another day’s creation.

My ticking clock told me, way ahead of Aurore,

that you were coming

to unfold the miracle of life, anew.

My inner thoughts dissolve into your majesty

as a light canoe sweeps past another arch

of the river under a canopy of greens.

An entanglement of nature and mind is being pierced

with the first canto of the muezzin

singing his thankfulness to the Almighty

for the life of another day,

a primitive moment of hope

that nurtures my body to face the new day’s fatigues.

A new peace breathes in the brooks

colouring the flowers’ dates with the Sun

shining the canopy,

steadying my pulse to beat

with the earth’ compass

and the echo of a universe

Thankful morning of June,

alight and caress the winds of my journey back to Ithaca

and bless the shimmering eyes that await me

with a new regard.

Amen.
