Total solar eclipse 2024

The sky was getting dark,

The sun took a backseat.

Behind the moon it hid,

Spectators lined the street.

The moon was now passing,

Between the Earth and Sun.

It was a total solar eclipse,

Was the day done?

Applause erupted.

From those who caught the sight,

Of the total solar eclipse; what a delight!

We’ve never been so close,

To totality before.

But here we were on

April 8, 2024.

Could something more glorious,

Happen on our sphere.

No time for scoffing,

Jesus could appear.

The sun became darkened,

Its light was totally gone.

But the Son of God could appear,

At the first light of dawn.

Ma sistas – when he says he will leave

If he says, “I will leave and not come back.”

Ask him,

“So, what?”

Say, “Unclip my wings and let me soar.

Let me extricate myself from the walls of your safe

Let me oil my joints and strut to new points.

I would monkey up a tree and look at the ruins of love; explore uncharted territories

And I will write my own victories.”

If he says he is leaving,

Ask him, “So what?”

Say, “I will write my next chapter!

I will achieve the goals I’m after

Protected from your laughter.

I would re-school my mind to love myself or anybody else.

I would learn until nothing’s left that’s worth learning.

I will splinter your shell of indifference and trample your field of scorning.

When he says, “I am leaving”

And your heart begins to tremble.

Stay calm.

Just say, “So what?”

Say, while smiling,

Take your keys.

I will unlock myself into my own new beginning.”
