Dimitris Kosvogiannis, whose track record spans 25 years in tourism in Jamaica, has joined the executive management team at entertainment company Pulse Investments Limited, with a special focus on a key segment of the company: Villa Ronai.

Speaking to the Financial Gleaner on his way back to Jamaica, the naturalised Greek-born hotelier said that he is “bringing firepower to the Pulse organisation”.

“With Safia’s leadership, we have some very extraordinary plans,” he said, while declining to elaborate. Safia Cooper is the managing director of Pulse, a four-decade-old company that began as a modelling agency and later added hospitality services through Villa Ronai at Stony Hill, St Andrew, and the Pulse complex located on the cusp of New Kingston.

The Villa Ronai property comprises 60-plus rooms and other facilities the company intends to develop further, said Cooper.

She said the appointment of Kosvogiannis followed through on her commitment to shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting at the top of April and that Pulse continued to hunt for even more talent while seeking to build on the legacy of late founder, Kingsley Cooper, who passed away last June at age 71.

“Pulse is committed to attracting the best in class in all its professional endeavours. As we move forward, we intend to form strategic alliances with the top talent in Jamaica and the international community,” Managing Director Cooper said.

She added that Pulse’s business focus would continue to be lifestyle, fashion, and wellness.

The plans referenced by Kosvogiannis are to be rolled out progressively.

“We’re not quite ready to share as yet because we still have to check a couple of boxes. But clearly, you know me, my background is not in medicine, it’s not in space technology. It is hospitality,” he declared, adding that luxury hospitality, a market segment he has always worked in, aligns with the Pulse DNA and ethos.

“We are getting ready to do a Kingsley Cooper 2.0 with Safia at the helm,” and backed by his own international and Jamaican experience in the hospitality industry, the hotelier said.

Kosvogiannis formerly held senior roles with global brands such as Hilton, Melia, and Sandals Resorts International and played a key role in the development and management of the Palladium Hotel in Jamaica, a release from Pulse said.
