Jamaica-based technology conglomerate Amber Group has formed a joint venture with Guyana’s Beharry Group to establish a cybersecurity and IT services firm in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

The partnership creates Beharry Amber Technologies Inc, a new corporate entity designed to serve both government and private-sector clients, as Guyana’s oil-fuelled economic expansion drives demand for digital infrastructure and security services.

The joint venture differentiates itself from typical minority-stake acquisitions or service contracts common in Caribbean business deals. Instead, the companies are creating an integrated technology firm from scratch, with both partners contributing expertise, technology assets and market access. Equity distribution was not disclosed, though the venture is characterised as jointly held.

Guyana’s boom, driven by oil, has created new demand for support infrastructure and digital services.

Beharry Group Chairman and CEO Suresh Beharry described the moment as “pivotal”, emphasising that cybersecurity and digital infrastructure are now “essential rather than optional” for national development. Amber Group founder and CEO Dushyant Savadia similarly framed the venture as more than a commercial arrangement — a shared commitment to building Guyana’s digital resilience.

The collaboration draws on the strengths of two regional giants with deeply rooted legacies.

Beharry Group, founded in 1937, operates one of Guyana’s oldest conglomerates with a portfolio spanning banking, insurance, manufacturing, logistics, automobile distribution, food franchises and industrial services.

Amber Group, meanwhile, contributes a wide technological base with established competencies in AI, cybersecurity, cloud services, enterprise systems, and large-scale digital transformation.
