PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti, CMC – Police Friday confirmed that unidentified gunmen fired shots and threw an explosive device at the private residence of the President of the Senate and the National Assembly, Joseph Lambert.

The authorities said that the incident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday and that while there were no casualties, the gunmen had thrown the explosive device in the courtyard of the house and fired gunshots at the building.

They said a justice of the peace, accompanied by agents of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police and the Scientific Police went to the scene.

“Bullet strikes were noted on the facade as well as a bullet impact on a front side window of Senator Lambert’s vehicle,” the police said.

Lambert has not made any comment on the incident stating that he is allowing the police to conduct their investigations.
