Jah Vinci to headline Fri-Nally’s 6th anniversary
Jah Vinci, affectionately known as the World Signa, is set to perform live at the Fri-Nally 6th anniversary celebration tonight on 36 Hope Road. Powered by Campari and Courvoisier, the all-white themed event will feature a live performance from the dancehall favourite, backed by Notnice Records, alongside high-energy sets from DJs Bishop Escobar, Fyahman and Vinchi.
Following the release of his new single, Out of Many One People, which encourages national unity and resilience after Hurricane Melissa, Jah Vinci is ready to perform his biggest hits onstage.
“After the storm comes the world singer not just a calm but with high energy. I’m stepping in with nothing but good vibes cause that’s what the people needs right now!” Jah Vinci said of his upcoming performance.
Fri-Nally’s story began in 2019 with what was meant to be a simple birthday celebration. Co-founder Daniel Wong recalls how the concept developed unexpectedly.
“Fri-Nally derived from my 2019 birthday party. I approached my good friend Jared (now business partner in Fri-Nally) and told him I wanted a backyard BBQ-style vibe with great friends and a top DJ. We made it happen and that night turned out to be one of my most memorable birthdays, and we had no idea it would evolve into the Fri-Nally experience we have today,” Wong said.
The brand’s defining moment came during one of the most challenging periods for entertainment. Promoter and marketing strategist Jared Samuel explained that, “Surviving the lockdown and returning even stronger was when we knew we had something special. The demand, the loyalty, and the support from entertainers showed us that Fri-Nally had become a top-tier party brand.”
Artistes such as Bounty Killer, Suku Ward 21, Jesse Royal, Sean Paul, Jahshii, Lila Iké, Naomi Cowan, and Sevana have attended and enjoyed the event. Reaching the six-year milestone is a moment of reflection and innovation for the team, with Samuel noting that the anniversary is carefully curated to enhance the patron experience.
Not ‘business as usual’
“Celebrating our anniversary is not ‘business as usual for us’. We take the opportunity to look back at the wins and losses throughout the years, take feedback from our loyal patrons and be able to adapt to an ever-growing, fast-paced entertainment industry. The All-White theme allows us to create a visually stunning and immersive environment, and adding a live performance from Jah Vinci ensures the night has that perfect blend of nostalgia and contemporary dancehall energy,” Samuel added.
Supporting the anniversary is long-time partner Campari. Dominic Bell, brand communications manager at J. Wray & Nephew Limited, emphasised the cultural alignment in the partnership, “Campari’s partnership with Fri-Nally is rooted in our shared values of creativity, consistency, and cultural relevance. What began as a simple high-energy, after-work event is now one of Kingston’s most anticipated nightlife experiences which is true to Campari’s mission of bold self-expression and elevating passionate social occasions.”
Special deals and easy-mix cocktail options are among what Campari will be offering.
This Friday’s staging marks the start of Fri-Nally’s December events, with Samuel confirming a second show later in the month. The follow-up, themed Who Dem Seh Start Well? – a Gaza/Gully edition – is scheduled for Friday, December 19.
