Ras-I drops ‘Reggae Mountain’ with a message of uplift, renewal
Reggae singer-songwriter Ras-I has released Reggae Mountain (Feel No Way), an uplifting anthem aimed at bringing grounding and positivity. Produced by Keneil ‘Drumz’ Delisser, written by Ras-I Immanuel Kerr, and distributed by Ineffable Music Group, the track was released on Friday and serves as the first offering from his upcoming third studio album.
With soulful conviction and a modern roots sound enriched by live instrumentation, Ras-I delivers a message built on clarity, calm, and cultural affirmation.
“Life comes with ups and downs, so Feel No Way is a reminder to cling to the ups. Don’t stress [about] what you can’t control,” he explained. The track’s warm pulse and classic drum-and-bass energy honour reggae’s foundation while bringing the freshness and maturity that define Ras-I’s new era.
For the Kingston-born artiste, known for his mission to uplift, educate, and inspire, the single also answers the frequent claim that reggae has lost momentum.
“I got tired of hearing people say reggae nah gwaan wid nothing. This song is my reminder of how powerful reggae music really is,” Ras-I shared. His perspective comes, not only from personal conviction, but from a career shaped by critical acclaim and global growth.
Ras-I’s artistry has earned him JaRIA’s Song of the Year (2023) and Best New Reggae Artiste at the Caribbean Music Awards (2024), along with features in major Jamaican media outlets and international recognition for works like Somewhere Wonderful, which appeared in the Jamaica Tourist Board’s global Easter campaign.
His grounding in Rastafari spirituality, his dedication to live musicianship, and his dynamic global performances, from Reggae Sumfest and Rebel Salute, to City Splash, Moonsplash, and SXSW London, continue to expand his influence across borders.
“It carries an energy and a feeling that’s already resonating with lovers of the music. This is my way of adding to the ripple effect reggae continues to create worldwide,” Ras-I said of the new single.
Reggae Mountain (Feel No Way) is a mindset, a message, and a moment of emotional repair, crafted for listeners of all ages, “from the baby to grandma and grandpa,” as Ras-I puts it. The song positions itself as a soundtrack for all ages, who look to music for grounding, hopefulness, and reconnection with reggae’s heart space.
The single marks the beginning of Ras-I’s upcoming album, a project centred on self-reflection, vulnerability, and affirmation. Recorded with mostly live instrumentation and influenced by artistes such as Dennis Brown, Steel Pulse, and Smokey Robinson, it follows his previous albums, Tsojourna (2019) and Kingman (2021), which established him as a modern voice in roots reggae, traditional yet refreshing and spiritual yet streetwise.
“We’re bringing feel-good reggae music, and this track captures that energy from the very first note,” he said.
