Wickie Wackie Music Festival starts Thursday
While many cultural festivals have been forced to pause in the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s impact on Jamaica, Wickie Wackie Music Festival 2026 (WWMF26) defies the odds by returning for its third consecutive year. As an officially endorsed event of Reggae Month, from February 12 to 14, WWMF will transform the beach into a vibrant hub of irie vibes, celebrating the resilience of Reggae Month.
Nestled amid the black-sand shores of Bull Bay, St. Andrew, a vibrant celebration of culture and music awaits. The festival offers a three-day beachfront camping experience under the theme, ‘Future, Fyah, Foundation’. Launched in 2011 as part of the Wickie Wackie Live series by the members of the band, Raging Fyah, WWMF has blossomed into a cultural pilgrimage.
Founders Kumar Bent, Mahlon ‘Debo’ Moving, and sound system icon, Ronald ‘Uncle Ronnie’ Jarrett, have cultivated this vibrant event into a tapestry of musical history. “This festival is crafted by musicians, for musicians and music-lovers,” co-founder Kumar Bent passionately declared. “Wickie Wackie is not merely a venue, it’s a community where the breeze and sea harmonise with the sound system to create something magical.”
Thursday, February 12, kicks off with emerging ‘Future’ talent from the Unda Da Almond Tree series, complemented by live performances and the bass-full reverberations of vinyl selections with Uncle Ronnie and friends.
As the sun dips on Friday, February 13, the theme of ‘Fyah’ ignites with a dynamic soundsystem dance and a robust Soundsystem Culture Clash. Saturday, February 14 pays homage to the ‘Foundation’ theme, inviting patrons to witness legendary performances in an unforgettable live band stage show format. Among the performers are Reggae Month ambassador Etana, Kumar Fyah, Third World, Turbulence, JC Lodge, Karbon, Daweh Congo and many more.
In partnership with Let’s Go Camping Jamaica, the festival offers a unique beachfront camping experience with meditation, yoga, and drumming circles creating a soothing atmosphere that welcomes the day, ensuring a family-friendly environment.
WWMF offers a vibrant atmosphere filled with craft vendors, authentic ‘yaad’ food, and tropical libations. Located just a short drive from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, WWMF beckons global patrons who seek both cultural depth and coastal tranquillity.
