Gospel recording artistes Dayne Malcolm and Jodian Pantry have officially released their latest project, We Give You the Glory (Bless Your Name), marking their second collaboration together. The project is rooted in authenticity, faith, and divine timing.
At its core, the song is a heartfelt declaration of praise, reminding listeners that God remains worthy regardless of life’s seasons. Whether navigating grief, celebrating love, enduring relationship challenges, or facing the complexities of everyday life, it calls believers to maintain a posture of gratitude and worship.
“This song is simple in its message but powerful in its intention,” Malcolm said. “No matter what season you’re in, God still deserves the praise.”
Interestingly, the song’s journey to completion was anything but conventional. Originally penned years ago by Malcolm while sitting at a stoplight, the track began as a moment of personal reflection and an acknowledgement of God’s goodness through both highs and lows. It was later revisited and expanded with additional writing from Steve ‘Qrilycs’ O’Connor. However, the most defining moment came unexpectedly.
“The night before I went into the studio, Jodi and I were in the car going over vocals and arrangements,” Malcolm recalled.
“We ended up writing the vamp together, and right there, I knew this wasn’t just my song anymore. I told her, ‘We’re singing this together’.”
What followed was a moment of genuine spontaneity and creative connection.
“She looked at me like, ‘Sir, sing your song and nuh badda with no collab,’” Malcolm laughed. “But I was serious.”
For Pantry, the title of the song holds significant meaning, as it reflects her “everyday posture to Jesus”.
“I owe Him for all those times I fell down, messed up, went ahead of Him to do my own thing, and for all those moments where He blessed me or took me out of dark places. I owe Him all glory!” she said.
We Give You the Glory (Bless Your Name) fuses reggae gospel with alternative rock influences, a different direction for Malcolm, who notes this marks his first time exploring reggae sonically.
“I wanted something different,” he explained. “It started as a traditional worship song, but I felt led to evolve it into something more dynamic. Reggae gospel with alternative rock, it’s a wild mix, but it feels right.”
As for what Pantry hopes first-time listeners will take from the track, she said she hopes those who are going through a hard time will be encouraged to lift their faith after playing and listening to this beautifully written piece.
“I hope that they know it is only Him who has been sustaining and preserving them, and no matter the mayhem or chaos that tends to throw them off balance in their lives, they will give God the glory.”
We Give You the Glory (Bless Your Name) is now available on all major digital streaming platforms.
