Edward Seaga Highway toll rates set to increase
The majority of users of the Edward Seaga Highway, which runs from Caymanas in St Catherine to Mammee Bay in St Ann, will pay more when new toll rates take effect next month.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Transport said the rates would increase by an average of six per cent.
While the ministry did not provide figures, The Gleaner understands that the increases, which are expected to take effect on February 1, will range between $20 and $150.
It pointed out that the adjustments fall within the gazetted capped toll rates, adding that the Jamaica North-South Highway Company Limited, operators of the toll road, elected not to apply for the full allowable ceiling.
The ministry also said that there would be a decrease in the rates charged for the Angels to Linstead section of the highway, while there would be no adjustments for the Caymanas to Angels leg.
