Slain East Portland Member of Parliament Dr Lynvale Bloomfield’s murder trial was rescheduled for Friday when the matter was called up in the Portland Parish Court yesterday.

Bloomfield, who was also a medical doctor, was killed at his Passley Gardens home in his constituency in early February.

His nude body was found with multiple stab wounds on the morning of February 2 by his helper and gardener.

Investigators recovered a bloodied vest, two knives, and a cell phone at the crime scene.

On February 23, Simeon Sutherland of a Portland address was arrested after scientific evidence reportedly linked him to the crime scene.

He had his bail extended when he appeared in court yesterday.

On Friday, his attorney, Peter Champagnie, is expected to make another application for the matter to be transferred to a different jurisdiction over concerns that the present location could prejudice the outcome.
