Nuttall not accepting COVID-like cases
Nuttall Memorial Hospital has announced that it would no longer be accepting patients who are displaying the symptoms of COVID-19. It took immediate effect yesterday.
Chief Executive Officer Harvey Levers said that Nuttall was not adequately equipped or staffed to care for persons who have contracted the novel coronavirus, which has infected more than half a million people worldwide.
The symptoms include fever, coughing, runny nose, cold, and shortness of breath. Persons with recent travel history or contact with visitors on or after March 9 - the day before the first Jamaican tested positive - are also requested to stay away.
Levers said that “anyone who meets any of the above criteria”, should immediately telephone the Ministry of Health via the published telephone numbers, which are 888 663 5683, 888 754 7792, 876 542 6007, or 876 542 6006.
