Five bodies found in shallow graves in St Andrew's 'Danger Island'

The Major Investigations Division is leading a major probe after five bodies were exhumed from two shallow graves in a section of the Washington Gardens community called 'Danger Island'.

The police say the graves were made on the banks of the Sandy Gully in the vicinity of Weymouth Drive.

The operation, which began on Monday, was triggered by a missing person investigation.

The Gleaner gathered that the bodies, wrapped in plastic, were decomposing.

Up to up to late evening, cadaver dogs and detectives from the scene of crime unit were combing the scene.

Investigators are seeking to determine whether the bodies are of men missing from Clarendon over a month ago.

However, Assistant Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey say they are waiting on the outcome of the post mortems to further guide the probe.
