ROK Hotel July opening proof of confidence in Kingston – mayor
ROK Hotel Kingston – the awaited Tapestry Collection by Hilton – will officially be opened on July 19.
That announcement was made during the monthly sitting of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation’s (KSMAC) on Tuesday.
ROK Hotel Kingston, located at the corner of Ocean Boulevard and King Street, boasts 168 rooms that are managed by Highgate, a leading real estate investment and hospitality-management company. It will include dining options, residential opportunities, and business meeting spaces.
Overlooking the Kingston Harbour, ROK will feature an expansive pool deck, a fitness centre, as well as a lounge area, restaurant, café, and bar.
With these offerings to tourists and locals, Kingston Mayor Delroy Williams said the launch will be a major step in breathing new life into the city of Kingston.
He said the significant investment highlights growing confidence in downtown.
“We believe that is a major step in the right direction in pursuit of a destination city and a tourist city,” Williams said.
Williams also emphasised that there are challenges to investment in downtown Kingston but committed the corporation to resolving those challenges.
“Downtown is not going to be redeveloped by us, by our money. Downtown is going to be redeveloped by private money as investors investing,” Williams told councillors at the meeting.
The renovated 12-storey building was originally opened in 1977 as the Oceana Hotel.
