Three US family members die in Ironshore accident
WESTERN BUREAU:
THREE FEMALE members of one family are now dead and three relatives were injured in a tragic crash in Ironshore, St James, Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as 59-year-old Sandra Lee, an airline hostess of Minneola, Florida; her 25-year-old daughter, Savanna Lee, a real estate agent of the same address; and their cousin, 55-year-old Donna Brown, a nurse of Winter Gardens, also in the United States.
Reports are that about 12:15 a.m., the three deceased and three other family members, 57-year-old John Lee, and Carlton Brown, both of Florida, and Andre Hinds of Brown’s Town, St Ann, were travelling in a silver Toyota Axio motor car.
On reaching the traffic lights at Ironshore, the driver was in the process of making a right turn, to proceed to the RIU resort property, when it collided with a red Subaru motor car travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact of the crash resulted in the Lees and Brown, who were sitting in the back seat, being flung from the car
Savanna Lee and Brown sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot, while Sandra was rushed to hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
Their other relatives, John Lee, Carlton Brown, who was allegedly driving the vehicle, and Andre Hinds, also sustained injuries, and they, too, were rushed to hospital where they were treated and admitted in serious, but stable condition.
A team, from the police’s Area One Accident Reconstruction Unit visited the scene, declined comment.
However, the police said that they would view footage from Jamaica Eye surveillance cameras at the Ironshore intersection to assist in their investigations.
