RJRGLEANER Cross Country Invasion Region 3 kicks off with spirit-filled church service
The RJRGLEANER Communications Group’s Cross Country Invasion Region 3 got off to a spirited and successful start with a church service at Shiloh Apostolic Church on Manning Avenue in Port Antonio, Portland, yesterday.
From the outset, it was evident that the media group was in sync with the lively Pentecostal style of worship as the staff actively participated in praise and worship.
Talk show host Dr Orville Taylor set the tone for the event, warmly acknowledging and introducing members of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group present for the Region 3 Cross Country launch, covering the parishes of Portland, St Mary, and St Thomas.
Following Taylor’s remarks, veteran RJR 94FM broadcaster Derrick Wilks delivered an inspiring address, commending the group’s print and electronic media professionals for their commitment to quality journalism.
Wilks elaborated on the purpose of the Cross Country Invasion, emphasising its role in fostering public engagement, allowing Jamaicans to meet their favourite radio, television, and print personalities, and educating communities about the media group’s services.
“Members of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group are here to share in your fellowship today, and we are indeed thankful,” Wilks told the gathering.
“We have a small representative team from the RJR family worshipping with you as part of our annual Cross Country Invasion. Today marks the start of our third week – what we call Region 3, which includes the parishes of St Mary, Portland, and St Thomas. We’ll be here until March 15th.”
SHARING GOODNESS
He continued, “We started a few weeks ago, moving through Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny, St James, Manchester, and St Elizabeth.
“Yes, we are invading! But this invasion is not to conquer. It’s to share the goodness of print, radio, and television. Through outside broadcasts, church services, outreach activities, and more, we are here to connect with you.”
Wilks said, “This year marks 21 years of the invasion across Jamaica, and we continue our mission to serve and empower you with news, information, and entertainment.”
The church service concluded with a stirring sermon from Bishop Delroy Farr, who praised the RJRGLEANER Communications Group for its professionalism and high standard of delivery.
He also spoke about the need for spiritual redemption in a world filled with challenges, highlighting God’s plan of salvation for those who seek Him.
