WESTERN BUREAU:

Custos of Hanover Lennox Anderson-Jackson has committed to work closely with the Hanover Municipal Corporation (HMC) in fostering peace, unity and civic pride across the parish.

Anderson-Jackson, on his first official visit to a HMC monthly meeting since being sworn in as custos of the parish, asked for all to work together in the interest of Hanoverians.

“Let us remember that good governance is built on integrity, respect and partnership, values that must guide every discussion and decision taken in this chamber,” he stated at the HMC’s October sitting.

Emphasising that his participation at the meeting would not be his last, the custos stated that he needs to keep abreast of what is happening across the parish, as the duties of his office dictate that he should be familiar with such happenings.

Also, Anderson-Jackson argued that adults need to ensure the success of the children as they will make up the next generation.

“We, as adults, need to look on the ways that we are going to allow our children, and other people’s children to succeed in life,” he stated.

He reasoned that discussions at the meeting, in essence, are really about planning for the youngsters.

“We are planning for them and whatever decisions are taken will either make them better or worse,” he noted, highlighting that decisions made by the HMC mark not just a continuation of service by the staff of the HMC, but a renewal of commitment to the continued growth, order and progress of the parish.

“The people of Hanover have placed their confidence in your leadership, and it is now our collective duty to translate that confidence into tangible development, improved infrastructure, and a better quality of life for all residents,” he stated.

Anderson-Jackson expressed hope that the term of office of the HMC’s leaders may be marked by vision, cooperation and progress.

“May all our efforts redound to the benefit of the people we are privileged to serve,” he said.
