Back-road detour from St James checkpoint
THE EDITOR, Sir:
With the recently renamed state of emergency to enhanced security measures in St James. I see a great lapse in the security measures at the St James-Trelawny border amid the state of emergency.
People are turning at the Greenwood stop light and cutting through two communities, Wiltshire and Flamingo, to avoid being checked by the security forces.
I spoke to an officer I saw at the checkpoint. He said that a soldier who was posted for one day and was replaced by barricades that are being moved by drivers to allow vehicles to pass through. Imagine how many criminals or illegal items have passed through since the enhanced security measures were activated by the Government.
I am calling on the security forces to tighten up the back road!
