Vegas, Jennings quibbled over nonsense

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Imitation Christians are the greatest hurdles to those searching to find the way, for they stand as bearers of light only to obscure or distort the light from those searching. The spiritual dispute between Mr Vegas and Gino Jennings is one of those instances.

What such occasions accomplish is to fix one's focus on the peripheries of Christianity while overlooking proof of its requirements. While dress codes may be external evidence of modesty and a decorum that befits anyone practising the life, it's one of the greatest ironies that two people sharing a common stage could have wasted time on that subject.

One would have imagined that a substantial reason for such gathering would not have been overtaken by a battle over dress, resulting in Vegas being discourteously pulled from stage.

The clash seemed to leave a gaping hole for the one thing that defines a real Christian - LOVE. Truth is, Jesus himself says: "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves." (John 13:35)
