Auditor General being punished for doing the right thing

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I Totally agree with The Gleaner editorial of Friday, May 21, ‘Shame at the Public Accounts Committee’. It is the case, where it seems that this Government is working hard, really hard, to discredit or undermine the office of Auditor General. But, the public backs the Auditor General and her office; she must stay steadfast in her endeavour to expose the corruption and missteps in the Government’s and its agencies’ operations.

Why is it that politicians never stick within the letter of the law, they go after the very institutions that are enshrined in the Constitution to protect the interest of the Jamaican people.

A few years ago, the previous government went after the Contractor General’s office and now this Government put that office under an umbrella that is closed to the public’s scrutiny. Now, they are going after the Auditor General. What else is next?
