Three Miles continues to suffer
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Businesses who are in the Three Miles area continue to be hampered by the ongoing traffic delays being experienced in the area, for a variety of reasons.
We have endured nearly three years of:
• Interrupted phone service
• Interrupted Internet service
• Interrupted water supplies
• Excessive noise pollution
• Excessive dust and poor air quality
• Business interruption
• Absent staff because of illness and allergies
• Blocked access to our offices for deliveries and retail customers
A number of businesses threw in the towel and moved to other locations. Most of the retail businesses are yet to fully recover. After the completion of the works, we naively thought that our problems had ended. However, we were in for a rude awakening.
It now takes us longer to get to our places of business because of the tiny single lane to the left of the flyover from Portmore heading north.
This lane is constantly plagued by multiple potholes stemming from some reported water leak. Recently, a JUTC bus broke down and blocked access to the lane. The only way to reach our offices was via the small lane in Majestic Gardens.
This continuing inconvenience renders businesses in the area to be uncompetitive in terms of customer access, employee comfort and ease of delivery.
We urge the Government to fix these issues with urgency.
