Age-old wisdom
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Approximately 2,500 years ago Aesop said: “A man is known by the company he keeps,” The sentiment is still apt today, and in fact is being used in the current election speeches by US Vce-President Kamala Harris.
By inference, she is casting doubt on the people who would vote for former President Donald Trump, given that she has pointed to his convictions for rape, fraud and his association with a porn star. A much greater set of failings than her laugh.
Many Trump supporters are fundamentalist Christians with strong beliefs, which is a puzzling group of supporters, given his misdemeanours that are well known. It would seem almost a rejection of their own beliefs if they tolerate his failings, despite a major premise of Christianity being forgiveness of any sin if they repent. Trump has not yet repented.
