Thanks CHG, JTB for sustained and indelible memories

THE EDITOR, Madam:

A few days ago, I was a part of a group of travel specialists who were visiting Kingston for a Jamaica Tourist Board immersive experience to boost sales to the capital city.

Travel executives go on these trips frequently to destinations all over the world to gain first-hand knowledge, so as to be better equipped to sell the destinations. This trip to Kingston was very different. The group was hosted by the Courtleigh Hotel Group (CHG) that includes The Courtleigh and The Pegasus, and Mrs Nicola Madden Greig, group director of marketing and sales, elevated the art of hosting such a group to an entirely new realm.

Apart from the usual offerings of accommodations and information, Nicola and her team (Celia Steele and Maurice Bryan) turned the trip into an unforgettable plunge into the cultural richness and the vibrant attractions that make Kingston the best-in-class, de rigueur destination for business and cultural travel in the Caribbean.

First, the exuberance of Jamaica Carnival in New Kingston. Then, in only two days, the CHG assisted with a range of experiences, from the iconic Bob Marley Museum to the bustling local art scene downtown, a stop at National Heroes Park, Blue Mountain coffee sampling at Craighton Estate in Irish Town, and a spa treatment at Kingston’s White Orchid Spa.

Additionally, the group members did a guided tour of the lush gardens at The Jamaica Pegasus, where they sampled mangoes. They all had the opportunity to play pickle ball for the first time at Pickle and Chill in Barbican, to be later dazzled by an array of culinary creations curated by CHG’s Executive Chef Ainsley Lambie.

The outcome of the collective efforts of the JTB and the CHG is that the agents left Kingston feeling exited and empowered to sell the destination with a fury, based on their superlative engagement with multiple layers of Kingston.

I’d like to use this platform to say a robust thanks to the CHG and the JTB for weaving sustained and indelible memories among those who sell Jamaica.
