Allow smooth access for CSEC students on Labour Day
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I write to bring to the attention of the Ministry of Transport, as well as all members of the public transportation system, a matter of great importance regarding the upcoming Labour Day observance on Friday, May 23. On this day, the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations will be conducted for both English language and principles of business.
These subjects traditionally attract a significant number of registered candidates, many of whom travel from deep rural communities or across parishes to reach their assigned examination centres. With the holiday coinciding with these critical examinations, it is essential that operators of public transportation make arrangements to ensure their services are available and reliable on this day.
I urge public transport operators, including route taxis, to extend their operating hours and ensure that their vehicles are readily available to accommodate the influx of students needing to arrive at their examination venues on time.
Timely arrival will not only alleviate stress, but also contribute significantly to the candidates’ ability to focus on their examinations. Let us all work together to support our students during this crucial time.
