Why should we vote for any of the parties?

THE EDITOR, Madam:

At the risk of earning the ire of those who wear orange or green tinted glasses, I believe our political system doesn’t serve anyone but those who are elected. The laws they make are for the lesser mortals that they govern and not for themselves.

This creates a serious problem for the uncommitted. None of the two main political parties seem to care about the people. Those who are in power want to stay and those who are out want to get in.

How can anyone sit in the Houses of Parliament and preside over a country where some retired government workers have to produce seven life certificates every year, and turn a blind eye to this oppressive practice? Four life certificates for the Accountant General Department (AGD) and three for the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) is a lot for those who are over 65. They don’t care enough to protect retired persons from oppression by linking the Registrar General Department at least to the AGD and the MLSS, so that they can update their records as soon as the information is made available? Why is this so hard? Both political parties are equally culpable in my view. What good reason is there to vote for any of them?
