Battered sanctuaries shouldn’t shake people’s faith in God

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The Sunday Gleaner story of November 2, of church buildings battered by Melissa reminded me of the verse from 1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

You may ask what could possibly cause judgment on the house of God? Perhaps it could be idolatry or the worship of another god and not of the one true Yahweh. Consider this. Almost all denominations have embraced the traditions of men and forsaken the commandments of Yahweh. See Matthew 15:9 Mark 7:7 and Isaiah 29:13, it is nothing new. Yeshua himself accosted the religious leaders of his day for doing so. Religious institutions have adopted, taught and exalted the pagan days of Easter and Christmas and totally disregarded the Sabbaths and Feasts of Yahweh (His holy convocations), as set out in Leviticus 23.

We have been taught that the Bible is the infallible word of God and we must not add to, or subtract from it. See Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18-19.

This may be a good time to heed the words of Yahweh, through the prophet Jeremiah 6:16 “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”

With numerous ‘church buildings’ out of commission, ‘church people’ who are the portable tabernacles made of skin, must not forget the assembling of themselves together, and will have to find ways of meeting in homes or by zoom or WhatsApp video calls. In this way we can all become Bereans and search the Scriptures. Yahuah’s Word endures forever and it is truth. Cast off the traditions of men.
