Crazy driving to offer relief to hurricane survivors?

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I make this appeal to persons to drive sensibly even as they travel to help people in the western parishes in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

We know that going as a group, whether social , political or religious, can be exhilarating, but safety has to be paramount.

There can be no excuse for the crazy driving observed last Saturday between Santa Cruz and Lacovia in St Elizabeth.

Convoys of groups heading towards Black River were overtaking lines of other cars at speed and around blind corners.

Had they met a truck going in the opposite direction there would be certain death in the lead vehicle and maybe an accordion effect for those following.

I trust the JCF will also be taking steps to lessen this madness.
