THE EDITOR, Madam:

Although we should be moving towards electric vehicles, that transition is far from reality, and the world still depends heavily on oil. In less than two weeks, petrol prices have jumped from $1.49 to $2.39 a litre, driven largely by escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The US administration’s aggressive posture has provoked equally forceful responses from Iran, pushing global energy markets further into instability. A more constructive path would involve diplomacy and leading by example – showing how good governance and peaceful engagement can encourage reform elsewhere.
