MPs voting on NaRRA bill after mace incident prompts suspension of PNP’s Brown-Burke

She interfered with the mace. Nobody come cute it up bout an “incident involving the mace.” She disrespected the parliament. – @Rudydearest

One wonders if the President of the party and Opposition Leader – a professed constitutional luminary – didn’t see it appropriate to counsel his fellow parliamentarian on the error of her ways? She stood there smug and confident that the tribe would defend her egregious behaviour. – @Zemi66

Unnecessary distraction that was unfortunate. Rules exist. Consequences exist. If rules are broken and consequences imposed, they must be respected. – @Mikkie_J

This is totally unnecessary. And it’s not like everybody isn’t aware of the significance and respect that is shown to the mace. She should be more than removed. – @pettybetty_12

She could have dealt with this in a more professional manner.– Janice Harris

Is not what you do is how you do it. Juliet tone is like she in her backyard fighting with her neighbours and she send her dogs to attack the neighbour. – Keisha Angel Kelly-Corke

They better not play with this Speaker. She knows the standing orders and house rules. No breach of these can pass her. She is no weakling either. Parliament is not for the faint of heart any where in the world. Stand your ground Madam Speaker! – BeccaB

I was watching it and I didn’t see where Angela was even near the mace. So we need evidence because as you can see, she sits right in front of it. So let’s see the evidence where she got up out of her seat to go and remove it or touch it. – Nas Nauw

I realise the majority of persons commenting do not have a clue what transpired and led to this moment. If they do and still comment as they have, I daresay no wonder indiscipline so rampant in Jamaica. No wonder those school boys thought it was their job to take matters in their hands. Sad state of affairs. – Georgia Kalawan Miller

It’s a matter of principle. It’s not about politics guys, Angela disrespected the Parliament. – AnnMarie T Nospmoht Madden

Rules are rules period. If it is against the rules and you do it anyway, then you should suffer the consequences. This is not a party issue in my opinion. – Terrence Carr
