Conroy Rose’s leap of faith
When Conroy Rose was invited to become the chief executive officer of ARC Manufacturing, the decision wasn’t taken lightly. He turned to both his wife, Tara, and God, seeking guidance for the new chapter that awaited him.
With 30 years of experience at the Victoria Mutual (VM) Group, where he served as chief sales officer, Rose felt prepared to tackle his new role. He views his transition to ARC as a divine calling. “I believe my coming to ARC is not really my doing. I prayed about it, as God wants me to be here,” Rose shared in an interview with The Sunday Gleaner. “I’m talking about compassion, humility, and always caring for people and delivering value to our stakeholders.”
For Rose, ARC’s mission of affordability resonated deeply. “At first, I wasn’t even looking for a job, and ARC came to me,” he revealed. “When I spoke with the chairman and he shared his vision... especially for young people to build their homes... I mean, to make construction material affordable so the young won’t be demotivated... that’s the kind of vision I want to work with, to create change in Jamaica.”
His faith, a cornerstone of his life, is what Rose believes will guide him in his new role. He is optimistic about making a tangible difference, easing the financial burden for young homebuilders, and contributing to the nation’s growth. “One of the big reasons I decided to go to ARC is because it’s a Jamaican-owned company,” he said with pride. “When you really look at the formation of ARC, you’re looking at a humble Jamaican country boy who started it. So what he is selling is really a dream... and I want to be a part of this massive dream to grow ARC into the number one company in anything construction. With that, what is going to drive that is my belief in God.”
Rose’s wife of many years, Tara, plays a crucial role as his confidante and supporter. The couple, who worship together at Meadowbrook United Church and have three children, believe that Conroy’s transition will be a fulfilling journey. An attorney-at-law, Tara is fully committed to supporting her husband’s mission.
