Romae Gordon steps down as co-managing director of Pulse
Romae Gordon has stepped down as co-managing director of fashion and lifestyle at Pulse, effective March 31.
Gordon previously held portfolio responsibilities for the Caribbean Model Search, Caribbean Fashionweek, and the Pulse Model Agency.
She remains a member of the board, but has also resigned from her role as company secretary, a release from the Jamaica Stock Exchange stated.
Safia Cooper will assume the post of managing director.
Pulse chairman Hilary Phillips confirmed the changes during the company’s annual general meeting this morning at Villa Ronai in Stony Hill, St Andrew.
A former Jamaica Fashion Model winner and international model, Gordon was integral in steering the careers of several of the company’s international models.
She was also a host and producer of a number of Pulse Television shows including Caribbean Fashion Weekly, Ready for CFW and the Caribbean Model Search reality television series.
Gordon was appointed co-managing director with responsibility for fashion, television content and model management of Pulse Investments Limited in 2018. At that time, Safia Cooper, the company's chief executive officer and daughter of Kingsley Cooper, was also appointed a director and co-managing director with responsibility for hospitality and entertainment. Co-founder Kingsley Cooper, then executive chairman and director of special projects, retained responsibility for property development. Kingsley Cooper passed away on June 18, 2024.
The long-term partner of Kingsley Cooper, Gordon modelled successfully for several years in Europe, Africa and the United States (US), represented by Elite Premier in London, G3 in South Africa and Wilhelmina in New York. Her clients included Cosmopolitan magazine, Macy’s, Champion sportswear, JCPenney and Gillette, and she has notably appeared on the cover of British magazine – Slimmer.
She graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in the US, with a master’s in public policy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the same institution.
