There’s no telling where you might meet your soulmate. It can happen just about anywhere, even at a party. Dressed in striking fashion, Alicia Davis attended an event on November 5, 2005, where a friend introduced her to Courtney Gordon. At first, she showed little interest, but within a few months, romantic sparks began to fly. Now, almost 20 years later, that chance meeting has blossomed into a lasting love, as the couple recently tied the knot.

Courtney tells Island Wedding that for him, he was lost in the moment of their first encounter. That connection was both instant and magical, “She is beautiful and oozes sex appeal.” But Alicia was looking for something deeper. And she found great depth and insight during those late night heart-to-heart talks over the phone. “Those late night talks were amazing. I felt like I had known him for a long time.”

They spoke with comfort and ease. During those late-night conversations while he worked as a crane operator, Courtney discovered a different side of Alicia: one that was warm, sweet, and genuine.

For their first date, the pair went to the movies and watched Get Rich or Die Tryin’ featuring American rapper, 50 Cent. “We had a great time,”Alicia recalled, adding, “After two months of dating, I was so attached. I could not go to sleep without hearing from him.”

Since getting to know her better, Courtney cannot get enough of how loving, caring, honest, smart and driven his beloved is. “She is one of the happiest persons you will ever meet. And she also loves to make those around her happy. She continues to be there for me mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And I could not ask for a better life partner,” he explained.

Alicia, who also finds her twin flame loving and caring, continues to be in awe of how amazing, thoughtful and supportive Courtney is. “Over the years, he has been there for me emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And I can’t thank him enough for doing all that he does for us and our family,” she said.

Knowing early on that they had found their soulmates in each other’s eyes, their love deepened, forming a bond that remained timeless. Before they realised it, a decade had passed. The couple, who enjoy going out together, are not only proud parents, they are business partners, working together to build their company and leave a legacy for their son to follow.

After dating for several years, Courtney decided it was full time he made his move and asked the love of his life for her hand in marriage. “It was long overdue. We had been living together for over 15 years and we have a 16-year-old son together,” he revealed. Alicia recalled the proposal being an absolute tear jerker, and she was so overjoyed when Courtney popped the question and naturally, she said yes.

The newly engaged couple went ahead and began planning a new chapter of their lives. Alicia shared that family, friends, and their church community helped make their dream wedding a reality. She was truly grateful for their support.

As for the wedding dress, it was a no-brainer for this bride, who said yes to a gorgeous off-the-shoulder mermaid dress, with a ruffled train detail. “I knew exactly what I wanted, I just went for it and I felt beautiful, thanks to Unions Bridal Boutique.”

On April 5, family and friends gathered at the Vintage Gardens in Spanish Town, St Catherine, to witness the couple’s matrimonial union. Love filled the air as the bride and groom took part in a traditional sand ceremony, signed the marriage papers, and were pronounced husband and wife, sealing their vows with a kiss.

For Courtney, the wedding was incredible. He especially loved the declaration of intent segment of the wedding, led by the pastor. Alicia, who was a vision of beauty and elegance, appreciated every aspect of the special occasion. “Our wedding was everything I hoped for and more. It was great to see both sides of our family and all of our friends come together and show their love and support,” Mrs Gordon reflected.

To commemorate their marriage, the newly-weds shared their first dance to Write Your Name (Across My Heart)by Kenny Rogers and I Believe by Fantasia.
