The Fairy Loft offers IV therapy for a self-care escape
Wellness entrepreneur and registered nurse Shantae Wilson is on a mission to make self-care feel both luxurious and practical. As CEO and founder of The Fairy Loft Med Spa, she offers Intravenous (IV) therapy, medical aesthetics, and holistic treatments designed to help clients feel their best from the inside out.
In recent years, IV therapy has become a popular addition to the wellness landscape, appealing to those who want efficient, targeted ways to boost their health and energy without disrupting busy schedules. This trend reflects a wider shift toward proactive self-care and holistic well-being.
“I think in this era it’s very important that everybody, especially young people, really focus on their health and wellness in general,” Wilson told Lifestyle as she added the finishes touches to her booth at the recent Book Fairy Festival.
As part of the festival’s wellness lounge offerings, Wilson accepted the call and partnered with the festival founder, Shanique Sinclair, to offer IV therapy services as a way to encourage and introduce attendees to a quiet, reflective time for self-care.
“IV therapy is ideal for helping the body to recuperate from daily stressors. It also gives you time for yourself. You sit down, your drip is running, and you get that time to just meditate,” Wilson noted.
Unlike oral supplements, which must pass through the digestive system and can be affected by absorption rates, IV therapy delivers nutrients directly into the bloodstream, allowing for faster and more efficient uptake.
“When you take vitamins orally, much of it is lost through digestion,” she explained. “But with IV therapy, the nutrients go straight into your bloodstream – and sometimes you feel the effects almost immediately. Depending on the vitamins in the cocktail, you might even taste them.”
The Fairy Loft Med Spa offers a range of vitamin infusions tailored to specific wellness needs, from boosting energy to promoting skin health. For the festival, Wilson created a customised ‘Fairy Booster’ cocktail, which combines Vitamin C, glutathione, B12, and B-complex vitamins. This blend supports detoxification, cellular regeneration, relaxation, and glowing skin.
ENTERING THE LOFT
“[When] you enter The Fairy Loft, you’re in a different world,” Wilson explained, describing the space located on Hope Road, St Andrew. “It’s an enchanting hideaway where every person gets their own room, time to themselves, a blanket, a cup of tea – everything to help them relax and recharge.”
The name of the spa reflects Wilson’s personal love for the theme of fairies which made her participation in the festival feel like a natural fit, “I’ve always loved fairies. They’re free and light and playful, and I wanted The Fairy Loft to feel like that – like an escape.”
For those nervous about needles, the Wilson and her team takes time to explain each step and offers numbing to ease discomfort. Each session runs about 30 to 45 minutes, which is a small window of quiet in otherwise busy lives.
Wilson acknowledges that modern life, especially for young people, often leaves little time for proper nutrition or rest. “We party, we go out, we try new things. We probably don’t even cook that often,” she said. “The generation before us cooked more. We’re always on the go, so we don’t pay attention to certain things.” IV therapy, she adds, offers a practical way to supplement the body and maintain balance: “Your body needs to be treated like a temple. It carries us.”
