This house we are admiring was designed to satisfy the emotional and behavioural needs of those within. It knows only too well that its architecture and interior design, working in concert with the principles of psychology, have crafted an inviting living space of serenity and contentment – beyond the predictable.

The owner of the keys to this imposing abode has graciously unlocked the door to a dream actualised. A successful doctor of clinical psychology, with four children and born in St Ann, the good doctor is known to be strong-willed, determined, and generous in spirit.

As a little girl in the late 1960s, she had visited Mammee Bay estates in the parish, and quietly promised herself then, that one day she would own a house in this 24-hour secured, upscale neighbourhood. Four years ago, 50 plus years later, that promise was kept.

It’s immaculate, 9500-square-foot space on a one-acre lot, has all of seven air-conditioned bedrooms releasing all sense of worldly tensions. Adjoining them are six bathrooms – with soaking tubs and glass showers – inclusive of a powder room.

Comfort-zone sectional seating areas are on both levels, with the ground floor impressing with its towering, dramatic double floor height ceiling. Both floors invite outdoor relaxation with balconies and a respectable-size rear verandah. A dining area is in full view, adjacent to an island, eating-counter kitchen. A double garage and porte cochere is at front.

Walk on floors of porcelain and marble. Observe the kitchen and bathroom countertops of high-priced quartz, and be enclosed by glowing walls of pure white, inside and out.

This is not often seen in high-end residences: a separate pool house, relishing its own bedroom and two bathrooms while showcasing an entertainment pavilion. Within the saltwater pool structure is a rejuvenating hot tub, just waiting for you. A short walk finds you gleefully at the private, powdery white sand community beach.

The owner built the house over three and a half years, with the COVID-19 pandemic impeding its pace to a faster completion.

We note that this therapeutic home is highly sensitive and responsive to how its occupants think, feel and act. With its thorough understanding of the human experience, one is assured a higher quality of life here.
