AnnaleaX hitting the right notes in style

Entertainer AnnaleaX always had a keen interest in fashion. Her years spent in pageantry only developed that passion.
“After competing in pageants, I learned the importance of a great outfit. Styling can do so much in elevating your presence,” AnnaleaX, whose given name is Anna-Leah Anderson, told Living.
From there, she began paying more attention to details. For her, everything mattered; from the hair, make-up, shoes and accessories, to the colours and tones of ensembles.
She explained that her earliest memory in fashion happened at the annual end-of-year class party back in primary school. When she finally got the chance to show off her style, she wore bell-bottom pants with a burgundy top boasting a white butterfly, with a pair of white sneakers. “Hello? Nobody could tell me I’m not the hottest,” she declared.
Her style has since evolved into a blend of feminine, chic, and contemporary glamour. “I don’t necessarily follow up on trends. And I’m not a fashion brand type of person. I just wear what I think looks great on me. Sometimes, I even make my own clothes,” she said.
As far as style icons go, the model, singer and songwriter cites international artiste Rihanna and actress Zendaya. “They both have very unique styles. Rihanna expresses my more edgy and sensual side, while Zendaya speaks to my structured and glamorous side.”
With an innate magnetism towards styling and designing outfits, this fashionista takes great pleasure in bringing creative elements to life. “Whether it’s for a song, a project for work, once I have the idea in my head, I get the materials and make it a reality,” she revealed, adding, “I would definitely consider becoming a designer. Having my own clothing brand is something I would love to do in the future.
When selecting signature apparel, AnnaleaX places greater influence on colours, more so than textures. She is a firm believer that the wrong colour will reflect poorly in portraying the right look. “How you look is the first thing people see. It’s their first impression of you. And sometimes, it is the very thing that sets you apart from everyone else in the room,” she highlighted.
Currently trending in her closet are essentials like mini skirts, neutral heels, sleek sneakers, and the perfect pair of earrings.
Her advice for anyone still discovering their style is simple: start with research.“Pinterest is perfect for finding looks. You can use it as a guide to find ideas that you already have in your closet or might need to buy. When you have done that, ensure that you have staple items in your collection. That way, you are able to mix and match with other things in multiple different ways,” she said.
