Kimberly finds love in Leon Wellington
Kimberley Titus made a beautiful entrance at Caymanas Golf Club in St Catherine, walking up the aisle to meet her groom, Leon Wellington, before family and close friends earlier this year. Although the couple had quietly tied the knot in a private ceremony in January 2023, this celebration gave them the chance to share the joy with loved ones. Their story began in 2014, when Kimberley first met Leon while they were both working at a call centre, and over time, he won her heart.
Speaking with Island Wedding Kimberley shared, “Even though we’ve known each other since 2014, we were only together for four months before we got married.”
Initially, she took Leon’s soft spoke nature as a sign that he had something to hide. “At that time, I thought he was sneaky, all because he spoke with a soft tone,” she said, adding, “I could barely hear what he was saying and wondered if it was because he didn’t want anyone to hear what he was saying, which was weird to me.”
As time went on, she attributed this trait as a positive indicator of his humility and easygoing temperament.
For Leon, who always saw Kimberley as the apple of his eye, he naturally became flirtatious in her company, “I saw her as a fun person at first. She was always smiling, play[ful] and chatting away.” But Kimberley never gave him the time of day.
It wasn’t until her birthday in October 2022, after she had migrated, that she began to have a change of heart. During a visit back home later that month, the two went to Chive Restaurant in Liguanea, St Andrew, to mark the occasion.
“Friends were included in the occasion, but that night was the first real date Leon and I had. It felt really good being around close friends and seeing how well he got along with everyone,” Kimberley revealed. Not long after, Leon asked her to be his girlfriend.
Since then, Kimberley has appreciated Leon’s reliability and attentiveness, noting his consistent support, patience and willingness to listen.
“He is always encouraging and motivating me to chase after every single goal I have. He listens without judgement, self reflects and accepts changes to make the relationship stronger. He handles challenges with calmness, giving me the time and space I need, without rushing me. I can depend on him and I know he will show up especially seeing that we’re a thousand miles apart. He goes above and beyond simply out of love and responsibility,” she explained.
Kimberley says her perspective has changed since being with Leon and that she no longer starts from a place of “I can’t”.
“He believes in me more than I believe in myself. He is always going to tell me I can do it. Communicating openly, he will have the hard talks and tough conversations, so that we are always on the same page,” she explained.
While Leon was initially drawn to Kimberley’s beauty, he says he remains captivated by her intellect, ambition, commitment, and her caring, kind and jovial nature.
“Everything I set my mind to do, I can always count on Kimberley to motivate, encourage and support me. She not only provides emotional support, she also communicates her thoughts,” he said, adding, “Even though we might not see eye to eye on certain situations, she works through our conflicts. She stays present when things might be difficult, she will forever express her need for quality time and she’s very consistent when it comes to thoughtful gestures.”
Not long after asking Kimberley to be his girlfriend, Leon began discussing marriage with her.
“I realised she was the one when our goals, aspirations and principles aligned. I didn’t propose in the traditional fashion of one knee. We simply talked about our future plans and goals. And we arrived at the topic of marriage where we asked each other how we felt about that step and we both agreed to tie the knot,” he said.
Kimberley got plans under way, planning the wedding of their dreams, with some help from friends and family. “The process was a little hectic for me,” she shared, highlighting that this was their second wedding after the two previously tied the knot in a private courtyard ceremony in January of 2023.
“Most of our family members and friends did not know we were married in 2023. And we saved that news for our reception, revealing that our wedding day was actually our second anniversary, hence our hashtag ‘#Road2Wellington’,” Kimberley explained.
On Tuesday, January 14, Kimberley and Leon joined hands and hearts one more time in the presence of specially invited guests to celebrate becoming Mr and Mrs Wellington. The groom agreed that the ceremony and reception were incredible, “Seeing everyone happy and having fun made our wedding even more memorable.”
For their official dance as husband and wife, the newly-weds shared a romantic moment to Never Find by reggae singer, Jah Cure. The blushing bride reflected, “The wedding was perfect! Seeing the vision come to life was amazing. The best moment for me was walking up the aisle with all my family and friends being there and supporting us.”
