For over a decade, Rohan ‘Frano’ Francis has been changing lives through health and wellness. Long driven by the dream of elevating his entrepreneurial journey, he recently brought that vision to life with the opening of Frano Fitness Training Studio.

“The inspiration came from my passion for helping people become the best version of themselves. I wanted to create a space where people can train, feel supported, and build healthy lifestyle habits, while being part of a strong fitness community,” Francis explained to Lifestyle, noting that opening a gym had always been part of his plan to better execute his training vision.

And, by always, Francis means as early as Grade 11, even though at that time he, “...wasn’t in any shape to believe it was possible”.

He recalled a period of constantly seeking validation from family and friends. It was a breakup, however, that ultimately set him on the fitness journey he believes God had designed for him.

“That moment pushed me toward fitness and understanding the importance of working on yourself,” he added.

From this growing interest, he was motivated to compete in the Jamaica Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association competition, where he placed third and fourth in the men’s physique short class. The experience gave him exposure and helped open doors within the fitness industry.

He went on to become a successful fitness instructor and personal trainer, building a strong, supportive community rooted in health and wellness, “Team building is our number one goal, and I focus on helping each person improve within their own capacity, because I believe there is greatness within everyone.”

NEXT CHAPTER

Following years of building a strong community, Frano Fitness was ready for its next chapter, paving the way for the new gym.

“Starting this business wasn’t about my timing, it was God’s,” he said, adding, “My growth was becoming uncomfortable to many; something I didn’t fully understand at the time. But it became the push I needed in the right direction. I’m grateful to God for showing me the importance of faith and hard work.”

The new facility, located at Parkington Plaza, underwent renovations in September of last year, a process that took approximately three months. Sleek in design, the studio offers a welcoming space where clients can boost their energy and improve their well-being. Once you climb the warm-up steps, the floor opens into two areas for weightlifting and resistance training. The second level features an open-air fitness space, encouraging circuit-based exercises and intense drills during bootcamp sessions.

“The grand opening was February 28 and we officially started operating [on] March 2. Honestly, it was an amazing moment because the Frano Fitness community had been waiting on this move. The moment our doors opened, the support came pouring in,” he revealed.

Since opening, about 85 percent of Francis’ clients have transitioned to the new studio. The move, he says, wasn’t very difficult.

“Frano Fitness is more than just a brand; it’s a strong community and a movement that people believe in and want to be part of,” the new gym owner added.

So far, he hasn’t encountered any major frustrations, ”Handling member complaints or conflicts will be my number one priority because of the challenges I’ve faced in the past. I know how an uncomfortable space can affect someone’s mindset and mood, so creating a positive and supportive environment is very important to me.”

And, should any issues arise, he aims to see them as opportunities to grow and improve.

“Life has definitely become more challenging lately. Sometimes 24 hours feel like 12, and there’s so little time for the mission at hand. But I’m confident that, once the vision is fully in place, things will start to feel more manageable and productive,” he said, adding, “This venture is about adding structure and staying consistent, but my passion hasn’t changed. I am the same Frano.”

Between running his business and training clients, the fitness coach still finds time for his own workouts.

“I actually think it’s easier for me now because I do have a time that I take a break in the middle of the day and work on myself before starting back my evening session at 3 p.m,” he explained.

His five-year plan is to accomplish continued growth and expand to more locations, while keeping the goal of building a healthier community and, by extension, a healthier nation.

“Keeping God at the forefront of everything we do, I hope to help people become stronger, healthier, and more confident, while building a community rooted in faith, dedication, and togetherness,” he said.

Francis’ advice to others who are looking to venture into the business of fitness is to find your purpose and trust God, “Don’t wait for everything to be perfect; learn as you go, stay consistent, and focused.”
