As fitness experts and enthusiasts welcomed a fresh start to the fourth month of the year, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) on March 28 wrapped up International Women’s Day celebrations with a Pilates event for women at Blūma Studio and Café.

March had already highlighted several events geared towards setting the concepts of self-care, balance and wellness on a holistic level into motion, all against the backdrop of curating a fulfilling socio-economic lifestyle. And, this event was no different.

“As we closed out International Women’s [Day celebrations throughout the month of March] here at NCB, we reflected on what it really means to live well. Wellness goes far beyond just how we move our bodies or how we manage stress. It also includes how secure and confident we feel in our financial lives,” Dr Karrian Hepburn Malcolm, head of wealth management at NCB, told Lifestyle.

The ‘She Means Business’ wellness experience featured a guided Pilates session and offered invited guests the opportunity to network with NCB executives, Blūma partners, advisers, and clients, while engaging in discussions on finance, wealth building, and intentional living.

Attendees who registered took part in a group studio session. The series included mat Pilates, reformer Pilates, barre, and sculpt classes. “The sessions were designed to create a supportive space for women to pause, reset, and reconnect through movement and mindfulness,” Hepburn Malcolm said, adding, “This initiative reinforces NCB’s commitment to supporting women in building sustainable financial futures, recognising that financial growth and personal well-being go hand in hand.”

Align Orthodontics’ Finance and Operations Manager Victoria Jones, who participated in the sculpt and stretch class, revealed that it was a very fun experience, “I’ve done Pilates over the years and this was a really great session. I enjoyed a good sweat and I really appreciated NCB putting this event together. I think it’s important for women to prioritise both business and their health needs.”

And that, according to Hepburn Malcolm, was the ultimate goal: “The event formed part of NCB’s broader approach to wellness, highlighting the connection between physical activity, mental clarity, and financial confidence. By encouraging women to take small, intentional steps towards self-care, the initiative underscored the role of having balanced lives.”
