Joshua Palmer going beyond the basics

For Joshua Palmer, fashion is about far more than clothing. It is a language of confidence, creativity and identity that allows him to express himself without words. The 28-year-old digital creator, stylist and influencer is using his content to show that fashion isn't solely the domain of women or traditional stylists. It is a space where Jamaican men can be expressive and bold.
“From my high-school days, people always commented on how I carried myself,” Palmer shared. "I did not know it would grow into what I am doing now, but I am grateful that something I naturally loved has become a way for me to inspire other men to pay more attention to their style.”
Describing his personal style as clean and simple, Palmer’s influence has long moved beyond his own wardrobe, with him styling other influencers and content creators, including Joel Youngsang and Chey Swaby, for major cultural events such as the Lost in Time Festival.
He shared that his interest in fashion began long before he started creating content. Growing up, he observed how the men around him dressed, noting their attention to detail, such as coordinating ties and socks. These experiences shaped his understanding that style is not just about appearance; it’s about presenting oneself with care.
Palmer’s creative eye is also influenced by the wider fashion and content space. He names Nigerian-American model and social media influencer Wisdom Kaye as one of his fashion idols, drawn to the creativity of his videos and the boldness of his looks.
Since sharing his styling content on social media, he has received an overwhelming response. Many men express a desire to improve their sense of style, inspired by his work. He is often recognised in public as “the fashion guy” and receives requests to participate in his popular ‘Dressing the Swaway’ series. “They are noticing that men are putting more effort into their appearance,” Palmer said. “Seeing relatable men doing this gives them the confidence to try it themselves.”
This confidence is central to his collaboration with Guinness ahead of the anticipated Guinness Pull Up event. As a lifestyle content creator, Palmer is creating fashion looks to encourage patrons to think intentionally about their appearance for the event. "Consider colour, be bold, and pay attention to trends, but never sacrifice comfort for style,” he advises.
As he carves out space, Palmer emphasises the importance of authenticity. His focus is on continuing to develop his unique style rather than chasing every trend.
