Secrets' Facebook fans no secret
Excitement filled the ballroom at Secrets Resorts and Spas when 250 employees were recognised for long-standing service.
The management of the twin resorts property celebrated the fifth anniversary since their entry into the hospitality sector in Jamaica.
It was an evening that drew laughter from management and staff, including public acknowledgement of a team of 11 United States and Canada-based Secrets Resorts Facebook fans, who, over the past five years, joined with other fans worldwide to voluntarily and consistently promote the property through social media - simply because they love Jamaica and employees of Secrets.
"Five years ago, social media was the tool we used to connect with our guests, fielding their comments and compliments, and addressing their concerns and forging that bond," said Caulette Mornan, Secrets' social-media manager.
She added that fans contributed significantly to the Secrets Community Enhancement Programme by way of cash, gifts and labour.
Susan Murphy of New Jersey, USA, and Ken McAndrew from Ottawa, Canada, said they became experts promoting Secrets. They have visited Jamaica 12 times.
"It has become a home away from home. We keep abreast with Facebook postings about Secrets to ensure the information is positive and correct," McAndrew said.
Murphy added: "We spend a lot of time on Facebook with persons, introducing them to Secrets Resorts, based on our experience."
Murphy is a registered nurse and counsellor and is also ambassador for the Secrets Community Outreach project.
