The Denham Town Health Centre in west Kingston is expected to be reopened today after being closed because security concerns.

Dr. Andrei Cooke, the chairman of the board of the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), says the staff, which was redeployed to other health facilities, has been advised to report to work this morning.

Dr Cooke also says SERHA has met with stakeholders including the police and is now comfortable that the environment is safe for the clinic to reopen.

The facility was closed on Wednesday - a day after police constable Lynden Barrett was killed in the community.

Some west Kingston residents and their Member of Parliament, Desmond McKenzie, had criticised the decision calling it an exaggeration.
