Nurses end two-day protest, return to normal duties tomorrow
Nurses in the public sector are to resume normal duties tomorrow following an emergency conciliation meeting today.
The meeting was held between representatives from the Nurses' Association of Jamaica (NAJ), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says a meeting will be convened between the NAJ and the Ministers of Finance and the Public Service and Health to address outstanding concerns of the nurses.
Meanwhile, NAJ president, Janet Farr, says her group will hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the latest developments.
She says a meeting is also being sought with the Finance Minister.
Nurses had been on a sick-out since yesterday in protest over the drawn out process to get monies owed to them by the government since 2013.
