The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Jamaica will give a special award to Jamaican Olympian Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for her outstanding contributions to Brand Jamaica at its prestigious AMCHAM Business and Civic Leadership Awards and banquet on Tuesday, October 13, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
AMCHAM president Ron McKay said: “Her contribution to Brand Jamaica has been, and will continue to be, spectacular. She is a first-rate and world-renowned sprinter and deserves this honour. She also displays enormous philanthropic and corporate social-responsibility attributes and Jamaica is better for it.”
American Investor Wesley R. Edens, principal, founder and co-chairman of the board of directors of Fortress Investment Group LLC, will be keynote speaker at the event.
The awards and banquet, which is being presented in association with GB Energy Texaco, began in 2010 and recognises and celebrates recognition of businesses, individuals, and non-profit organisations that have been driving and achieving economic and social progress in Jamaica through ethical leadership, stewardship, and community-building activities.
Past recipients include Richard Byles, Lascelles Chin, Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson, Dr Henley Morgan, the late Maurice Facey, and the late Olive Lewin.
The banquet is now in its sixth year and is in full support of individuals, companies and non-profit organisations that work for the enhancement and development of Jamaica. The awards celebrate, highlight, and encourage those who inspire others with their vision, leadership, and achievement.
Tickets cost $10,000 for AMCHAM members and $15,000 for non-members. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available.
